Abstract

This document is a detailed uncertainty budget for the Swing Arm Profilometer, jointly developed by NPL and University College London (UCL) when operating in comparator mode. The various sources of uncertainty are identified and quantified and then summed according to GUM guidelines. The effect on the performance of the instrument is calculated based on a mathematical model.
