Abstract
This report describes the NPL-piloted intercomparison of compressive force measurements between: Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL), Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China; National Institute of Metrology (NIM), Beijing, People's Republic of China; and National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Teddington, United Kingdom. Forces were measured in the range from 50 kN to 3 MN during the period from 6 January 1999 to 14 March 1999. The results showed that the forces generated by force standard machines of the three laboratories agreed to better than: ±0.05 % for the hydraulic amplification force standard machines, and :i:0.006 % for the deadweight force standard machines. The agreements were all within the calculated uncertainties of measurement.
