Abstract

This report presents the procedures and results of the CEOS pilot land comparison of techniques/instruments used for the vicarious calibration of optical remote sensors using as a reference standard test site Tuz Golu, Turkey. The measurement campaign participants were: DLR (German Remote Sensing Data Centre), ONERA (The French Aerospace Lab), CNES (French National Aerospace Agency), TU (Tubitak Space Technologies Research Institute, Turkey) and NPL (National Physical Laboratory, UK), where NPL was the pilot of this comparison. The report contains a detailed description of the instrumentation used by each participant, their calibration and traceability to SI standards, techniques used to characterise the site and the comparison of the results obtained by different teams. Each team estimated their uncertainty budget and the results are presented with the associated uncertainty separated into its components: type A and B.
