Abstract

The results of NPL's eighteenth Environmental Radioactivity Proficiency Test Exercise are reported. Seven different sample types were offered: an aqueous mixture of five alpha emitters (designated 'AL'), a second aqueous mixture of five alpha emitters (AH), an aqueous mixture of four beta emitters (B1), a second aqueous mixture of four beta emitters (B2), an aqueous mixture of five gamma emitters (GL), a second aqueous mixture of five gamma emitters (GH) and a solid sewage sludge sample containing five radionuclides (S). A total of 672 results were submitted, of which 74% of the results were in agreement with the assigned values.
