There are many published methods to calibrate the spring constant of AFM cantilevers needed for quantitative force measurements. Each method has its own merits and are split, here, into three broad categories: dimensional, static experimental and dynamic experimental. Here, we report improved static experimental methods of the cantilever on reference cantilever and the nanoindenter on cantilever methods. These methods use four or five positions on the reference cantilever to reduce the uncertainties arising from positional problems. The uncertainties in the methods are discussed.
