Abstract
A network of forty-seven reference points has been setup in and around the Merchant Ventures building at the University of Bristol. Each reference point comprises a magnetic drift nest designed to hold a ½ inch tooling ball. The network of reference points was surveyed using laser tracker to locate the tooling ball centre coordinates to an uncertainty of approximately 0.3 mm. In addition, the coordinates of reference features in the building such as door and window frame corners were measured using the laser tracker. The reference point network was used to enable the reference features to be measured within a consistent coordinate frame. The measurement uncertainty associated with the reference feature coordinates is estimated to be 2 mm (k = 2).
The reference features and reference points will be used by the ViewNet project for characterisation of the various sensor technologies employed by the project.
