Abstract

This report details the 'build-up' calibration of the following NPL secondary force standard machines:
.5 MN hydraulic amplification machine;
.12 MN strain gauged hydraulic machine; and
30 MN strain gauged hydraulic machine.
The work described was performed in the period from October 1997 to September 1999, and formed deliverable 2.1.2 of Contract MPU 8/45: Mass Metrology 1996-99. This report covers the methods and equipment used to carry out the work, and analyses the results in terms of the
uncertainty of force generated by each machine.
