Abstract

The B-basis value is a design allowable used when modelling or designing critical components made with composite materials. It ensures safety in the material by assuming a majority of the material properties will exceed this lower value. Whilst B-basis is a statistical analysis technique, uncertainty looks at and quantifies individual sources of uncertainty to determine overall total uncertainty in a measurement to a defined level of confidence. This report looks at assessing the robustness of uncertainty determination for in-plane datasets with direct comparison to B-basis statistical analysis.
