Abstract

This report! summarises the results of a hot-box U-value measurement round-robin. Seven laboratorie~ from six European countries measured the U-value of a U-PVC frame, double-glazed window, using the measurement procedures specified in the May 1996 version of prEN 1241Z-1 (ISO/DIS 12567). The details of the measurements each laboratory made using two thicknesses of glazed calibration panels are given, along with the important measurement data obtained when measuring the window. The U-values measured by six of the laboratories (those using standard hot-boxes) agreed to within 3%. The measurement uncertainty of this method is discussed and the measured values are compared with the U-values sitnulated by two other institutes. The excellent agreement between the different measurement laboratories and between the measured and simulated values provide a strong validation of the measurement method specified in the ISO/CEN standards.
