Abstract

A single layer millimetre wave array with circular polarisation is proposed for 5G/millimetre wave communications. The antenna is designed to integrate the matching circuit into a single layer, no extra matching/feeding network is required which makes the antenna very easy to synthesise a massive array. The working frequency is 26 GHz - 32 GHz (S11<-10 dB), the axial ratio is less than 3 in the beamwidth of -60° to 60° of polar angle. The proposed antenna structure is simple, low cost and robust, which could be a very good candidate for the massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) applications.
