In the first step of this study, each institute constructed miniature fixed-point cells for use at three different temperatures; the freezing point of silver (961.78 °C; LNE-Cnam), the freezing point of copper (1084.62 °C; LNE-Cnam and NPL) and the melting point of Fe-C (~1153.58 °C; NPL). The initial measurements have shown that the principle of the in-situ self-validation methodology is valid.
