Abstract

A measurement equation is presented for the measurement of photon indistinguishability to a quantifiable uncertainty using the Hong-Ou-Mandel technique. The origin of each term in the equation is explained, together with procedures for its experimental evaluation and uncertainty estimation. Additional experimental measurements that were required to quantify the uncertainties associated with the terms in the measurement equation are given.
