Abstract
The ADMS atmospheric dispersion model has been used to derive concentrations of nickel in the Swansea area from the Vale INCO nickel refinery. The model used meteorology and emissions for 2006 and took account of the topography of the area. The modelled concentrations compared well with independent measurements given the known limitations of modelling such metals. The study indicated that the monitoring sites established around the refinery were appropriately sited.
