Abstract
In 2002 a project was started at the National Physical Laboratory with the aim to set up a new calibration service for dosemeters used to determine the reference air kerma rate of high dose rate 192Ir brachytherapy sources. This report details the construction and the commissioning of the spherical graphite-walled cavity ionisation chamber and the associated measurement set-up which was established as the UK national primary standard for 192Ir in May 2004.
