Abstract

There is a growing requirement for secure electronic communication of information across national and market boundaries. The solution lies in the development of a secure EDI system based on international standards such as EDIFACT and X.435. This report details the issues uncovered whilst developing a Strict Conformance Test Suite for a secure EDI system. The test suite is based on the secure EDIFACT and X.435 standards and is published as an accompanying document. The findings show that secure EDIFACT is likely to provide a good solution whereas X.435 has significant weaknesses.
