Abstract

During 1993 and 1994 the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), U.K. and the DI Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology (VNIIM), Russia, undertook an intercomparison of the radiance temperature scales maintained on tungsten ribbon lamps held at the two laboratories. Four lamps were involved in the intercomparison, two (one evacuated and one gas-filled) from each laboratory. The intercomparison was carried out over the range 900-2000°C. The results showed that, for three of the four lamps, the temperature scales agreed to well within 10' of the total combined uncertainties of the measurements across the entire range, and the other lamp agreed within 20s of the total combined uncertainties.
