Abstract

This measurement note provides a summary of the work carried out at NPL to examine the high cycle fatigue performance of particulate metal matrix composites (MMCs). Room temperature and elevated temperature results are presented on a range of commercially available MMCs and matrix alloys for comparison.
The effects of test temperature, specimen geometry, surface finish and heat treatment on the fatigue strength are presented.
