Abstract
This measurement note summarises extensive X-ray diffraction residual stress measurements conducted on three different materials. The purpose of the study was to investigate the repeatability of the XRD measurement method and the relative sensitivity of the measurement technique to changes in the test set-up, including the height offset of the specimen, the counting time and the number of Psi tilts used. Examples from the hot-peened spring steel sample are presented.
