Abstract
One of the thirteen indicators put forward to act as the Government's "quality of life" barometer, alongside health and economic prosperity, is air quality. Reliable measurements of the pollutants that determine air quality are clearly important for producing a meaningful indicator. The mechanisms in place to ensure consistent, traceable data for these analytical measurements within the United Kingdom are described.
