Abstract

This report contains the Annexes to the ISO standard Guide ISO 17282 that is currently under development and is concerned with test methods and analyses for determining design data for plastics. The design data are required by design procedures that are based on computer analyses that are available for predicting the performance of a component in service or for simulating its manufacture by various processing methods.
The Annexes to the ISO Guide are reproduced here and illustrate the acquisition and use of the data needed for different types of analysis. For finite element analyses, the application of different materials models is illustrated for describing the behaviour of plastics under circumstances where behaviour is elastic, rate-, time- or frequency-dependent, non-linear or anisotropic. The processing methods covered are injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding, blown-film extrusion and thermoforming.
These Annexes are not yet complete and further parts will be added before the development of the Guide is complete in ISO TC61.
