Abstract
The critical parameters which control shrinkage and warpage in moulded parts have been identified from a series of systematic studies which involved a literature search, consultation meetings, industrial visits and a process simulation analysis on injection moulded parts using Moldflow software. These investigations were aimed to enable NPL to specify the ranges of all key parameters and to assess how industrially relevant PVT data could help to make commercial software more reliable, thereby benefiting the polymer processing industry. The potential of the currently available PVT measurement techniques to meet this challenge has been reviewed.
