Abstract

Sensor networks are becoming ubiquitous, but the metrology associated with them is still catching up. Several sensor network metrology techniques are currently under development in the European Partnership on Metrology project ‘Fundamentals of sensor network metrology’ (FunSNM) to enable reliable, SI traceable measurements. These include uncertainty propagation, correlation analysis, sensor fusion, distributed sensor networks, and self-/co-calibration methods. The project will demonstrate the outputs by addressing a suite of specific monitoring and control applications, which are described here. These are: district heating, heat treatment of high value components, natural gas and hydrogen distribution, air quality monitoring, and smart buildings.
