Abstract
A relative humidity calibration facility has been constructed and validated at the National Physical Laboratory. This facility uses the present NPL humidity generators to provide gas of a known dew point to one of two temperature-controlled chambers. In this way a known relative humidity is generated in the chamber. The instrument to be calibrated is placed in the temperature-controlled chamber. The range of temperatures available at present is from 1 °C to 80 °C with a range of relative humidity of 2 %rh to 98 %rh over most of the temperature range. The uncertainty with which this new facility will operate is in general betiter than 0.5 %rh. This project has been carried out as part of the DTI's National Measurement System Programme for Mass, 1996 to 1999, project 4, Humidity Standards.
