Abstract

This paper proposes a novel radiation pattern measurement technique for simultaneous multi-beam excitation characterization of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) hybrid beamforming systems with large antenna array based on time-domain channel detection. The method's robustness against interference and the versatility of the hardware platform makes it a good complement to the traditional frequency-domain vector network analyzer (VNA)-based measurement techniques. The proposed approach has been demonstrated and validated via a series of calibration and radiation pattern measurements for single-beam and simultaneous multi-beam excitation test cases.
