Abstract
Four techniques for determining the loss of waveguide-to-coaxial-line adaptors have been evaluated. One method, known as the Adaptor Removal Technique used with Automatic Network Analysers offers a means of measuring the full s-parameters of a single adaptor over a given frequency range, whereas the remaining three techniques all measure the insertion loss of adaptor pairs and rely on calculations to determine the loss of each adaptor. The results obtained using the four techniques are compared for measurements of adaptors in three waveguide sizes, WG14 to APC7, WG22 to Type 'K', and conclusions on the accuracy of each technique are given.
