Abstract

This report was published as an output of Project AIR/2014/UA5 of the National Measurement System 2014-2017 Programme for Acoustics and Ionising Radiation Metrology to review the methods for calibration of underwater acoustic vector sensors, and consider other methods with the potential to provide calibration solutions in the future. The scope includes all vector sensor types which are currently available for the measurement of underwater acoustic vector quantities, and is not limited in scope to a particular frequency range. Whilst sensors design for the measurement of seabed vibration and their calibration is excluded from the scope, the requirements for seabed vibration instrumentation are considered in limited detail in this report.
