Abstract
In this report the application of the optical transfer function for X-ray computed tomography is reviewed. Brief introductions to the optical transfer function, X-ray computed tomography and the concept of spatial resolution are presented. The use of the modulation transfer function as a measure of the spatial resolution in X-ray computed tomography is discussed. Three methods for calculating the modulation transfer function are briefly reviewed. In conclusion, some of the gaps in the application of the optical transfer function in X-ray computed tomography are identified and future areas of research are proposed.
