Abstract

This paper reports on an investigative assessment of the structure of the binder phase (either Co or Ni based), principally using EBSD, in WC hardmetals in order to provide some insight into these questions and their implication for deformation mechanisms, and to provide guidelines for effective sample preparation, as this is a difficult challenge in these multiphase materials.
