Abstract

This report describes a rigorous mathematical method of defining angles that may be used to characterise the orientation of cubic crystals with respect to a given set of reference axes. Extensive use is made of unit vectors and their transformation by successive rotations about the three principal axes of the crystal.

The report adheres to a notation and definitions that are used in European Gas Turbine industry, even though the approach is not optimal from a mathematical viewpoint
