Abstract
Vibration isolation is needed in many areas of metrology, including high accuracy measurements of force, mass and length. A literature review of vibration isolation systems has been undertaken and its findings are summarised in this report. The report provides an overview of basic vibration diagnostic and isolation concepts, and examines specific techniques and systems that have been purpose-designed or are commercially available. Particular emphasis has been placed on low frequency vibration isolation (less than 10 Hz) as higher frequency isolation and diagnostic systems are more readily available commercially.
