Abstract

This report sets out the mathematical basis for transforming measurements of a vector near field over a plane to the corresponding far field. The theory outlined here is the basis for computer programs used in the radio-frequency and microwave antenna group at NPL to deduce the far field of an antenna from planar near-field measurements.
