This paper presents recent work undertaken by the UK's National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to provide an Internet calibration service for microwave network analysers. These measuring instruments are used extensively in the electronics industry to characterise circuits and components at high frequencies. The requirements for the very highest levels of accuracy for these measurements at any given location has led to the development of the Internet calibration service, described in this paper, which was launched at the beginning of 2001. This paper describes the system used to provide this commercial Internet calibration facility and presents some experiences gained during the first six months of operation.
