Abstract

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has operated the Humidity Club, Pressmet and the Mechanical Metrology Association, on behalf of the National MeasureJIlent System Policy Unit (NMSPU) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), during ithe period from the end of April 1997 to September 1999 as specified in Contract fIT No. MRU 8/45.7.
Pressmet was originally established at NPL in 1995, the Humidity C1~b in 1981 and the Mechanical Metrology Association in 1997.
Feedback from Club members suggests that they benefit from being a Member of these Clubs in a variety of ways and for a variety of reasons. The growing membership trends seen over the term of the contract indicate that the benefits provided to Club members (annual and special-interest meetings, newsletters, web-site listings and hot links, membership directories, market digests, promotions, and so on) have been well received, but it is essential tpat these benefits are continually reviewed, added to and improved upon, with continual input from members, in order to maintain this growing membership of the Clubs in the future.
