Abstract

Measurement results, statistical data analysis and chamber characteristics are reported for the NPL untuned stadium reverberation chamber. The chamber has been tested at 2.5, 8.2 and 18GHz using wall stirring, mechanical source stirring and frequency stirring. Results obtained using both mode stirred and mode tuned operation have been intercompared. The levels of planar field anisotropy and field inhomogeneity have been quantified. First- and second-order spectral analysis is used to calculate the normalized spectral bandwidth for various locations inside the cavity and to obtain an autoregressive model for the stirring process. Some theoretical results for general reverberation chambers are also derived.
